59 days to go:A Tale Of Two Outfits

Saturday was a busy tidy-up day.
My youngest son was in a football tournament and my niece arrived form North Wales.
The day was spent walking the dog, cleaning the house and getting the room ready for two extra sleeping over.
I spent most of the day in jeans and sweatshirt but managed to get changed into something less comfortable for the evening.
Sun is forecast for tomorrow and I can't wait.

178 days to go: Flower Power Part Two

Darla has posted about the green shoots of spring peeping through which may explain my current draw towards anything flowery.
I love this skirt as it can easily be worn all year round. It is stiff cotton and looks fine with boots in the winter and a strappy top and flip flops in the summer.
I am getting carried away with thoughts of summer and warmer climes.
No doubt a weekend by a wet and windy football pitch will bring me back down to (the sodden) earth very quickly!

200 days to go: A Landmark

January 1st 2009

Not feeling too great today.
After these photographs were taken I went back to bed with a migraine - I think the past two weeks has caught up with me.
As it's a New Year I am making a fresh start.
After each post I will rate how the outfit made me look and feel.
I want to edit my wardrobe to around a quarter of its current size.
Every item I wear will be rated and if it doesn't make me look or feel great it's going.
When my year is up in July I will be able to see what works and what doesn't. I want a compact wardrobe where every item makes me look or feel great.

ASOS cardigan (feels great but makes me look like a sack of spuds. In the pending pile)

By an amazing chance I spotted one of the mums from my children's school. They had arrived the previous day after eight weeks touring Spain in a Campervan.
That evening we met up for drinks while our children played table tennis.

I really need to do some planning. I tried several times to get dressed this morning and nothing worked. The weather is changeable too. It's cold. I hate cold. I started this look off with a lovely pink camisole under the black waistcoat but it was too cold so I added a shirt. The shirt is far too big for me but I do love it.
I bought this skirt a couple of years ago and hardly wore it. When I tried it on recently I realised why - it was far too long. I shortened it and I like it much better now.
This is the best I am going to get today.
Better luck tomorrow!

357 days to go - adding a sparkle

Today started off dull, grey and hot. I just got back from walking the dog and the heaven's opened with a massive downpour. I needed something to create a sparkle in my day.
These shoes I had been saving for winter but I dug them out today.
They sparkle like Dorothy's shoes in The Wizard of Oz. But they are a golden brown, not red.
I rolled up my jeans because they are too cute to hide!

no new clothes for 365 days

The new rules are set and the year of no clothes starts here.
Today we went to a christening.
It was bright but very cold for July.
I wore a 50's style dress from Oasis with the belt worn over a (warm) black jacket.
The shoes are from Accessorize and the bag from Next.
The necklace from an independent fashion boutique in Liverpool called Drome. It was a gift from the owner, Louise, after I wrote an article about her for the Liverpool Echo where I used to work.

Day 12: We're going to win the cup. (I hope!)

Today I am watching my son play football at Everton FC's training ground. For those who don't know much about football, Everton is the second best team in Liverpool!
My son's school have reached the local finals. Parents have been banished to the stands but I hope to catch a glimpse of my little one.
The forecast is for showers. And as we all know there is no such thing as unsuitable weather just unsuitable clothing. So, I am prepared. I have my trusty mac. I will be wearing.......

But before I go I just wanted to share this cute bag with you. It is a resuable shopping bag created by Cath Kidston for Tesco, to raise funds for Marie Curie nurses. It will certainly brighten my shopping trips up and I plan to use it as a beach bag in Barcelona this summer.

Day 3: Back To School

I am working in a primary school today (John Lennon's old school).

As a professional writer I have been working on a project to produce a school magazine.

The average age of my reporters is six!
