I sneaked this photo in between showers.
It seemed ironic that on the day I should choose to wear purple it would rain.
One of my favourite all-time films is Purple Rain and when I was a child I loved the colour purple.
When I finally got my own room at the age of 10 my parents let me choose the colour scheme. It was a wonderful opportunity to indulge myself so I chose purple and pink.
Yes I know - but it was 1976!

253 days to go: The last leaves of Autumn

I grew up in a house with a back yard that had no trees and all I could see out of my window was concrete.
Today there are few leaves left on the trees in my garden.
When the trees are bare that's when winter starts for me.
Spring begins when the buds start to appear on the trees again.
I feel very privileged to look out into my garden and see trees.

255 days to go: Bag Lady

I am starting to feel the November Blues.
At this time of year my tanned summer skin reverts to its jaundice sallow.
My waistbands start to tighten and I feel generally blah!
If I was an animal I would be one that hibernated until the Spring.
But I'm not and I have to make the most of the cold days and long nights.
As I looked around for inspiration (after cleaning the house and writing 2,00 words of my NaNo novel) I spotted the bag.
Spots always cheer me up as does the combination of red, white and blue.
Add a little sparkle and Spring seems so much closer.

256 days to go:NaNoWriMo Dress

I'd never heard of Noa Noa until I read Audi's fabulous blog and she mentioned the company.
I searched eBay and guess what, there was a new BNWT Noa Noa dress in XS with just minutes to go.
I used up the last of the funds I had accumulated in auctioning off my wardrobe and bid for this dress.
It is one of the most beautiful pieces I have ever worn.
It came with a separate under-dress or slip in the palest of greens and the wrap dress with such wonderful detail which I have tried to show you here below.
I loved this dress so much it inspired me to create Eve, one of the characters in the novel I am writing for national Novel Writing Month.
I am wearing it today while I type the next 2,000 words of Eve's journal.

257 days to go: Guy Fawkes Night

It is Bonfire Night tonight and after watching a firework display we will be enjoying our usual bonfire with hot dogs, red wine and lots of other goodies in the back garden.
Every year we share the evening with our friends Kevin and Denise and their two children.
We say we are doing it for the kids but I expect we will still be doing this when they leave home.
My husband and Kevin are both Scout/Cub leaders so we have borrowed the camp fire shelter which means whatever the weather we will be outdoors.The last time we borrowed the fire shelter was in May when the ten of us went to Shell island for a camping trip on the windiest weekend of the year.
By the third night we had just one tent left and the ten of us slept in one 4-man tent.
It was very cosy!
