I am thinking of changing my hair style

I have had this hairstyle for the past 10 years.

I am thinking about a bob.

Would it work?
Anyone?

You have a longish face, so it is hard to say. But you could try a shorter length and see if it suits you. Or get your hair centre parted, step cut, so that the first step falls around your ears, tht could look good. You have even features, so the middle part shd look good.

Nothing worse than wearing the same style for years .. i know.. i get fidgety too .. and try to change

I'm in the same spot as you; very similar hair cut and color and I always want change but worry it won't look right.

Why not try taaz.com? You upload a picture of yourself and then try out different hairstyles.

I know Elisabeth. I've made an appointment and cancelled it. I may just ask to go a few inches shorter and do it gradually. But thanks for the tip!

I think you would look good with an above the shoulder sort of cut. Maybe that's a long bob.

On the otherhand, I looked back a few posts and see you do sometimes put your hair up... and you'll lose that option if it is short.

I think some blunt bangs all the way across and then a longish bob (just barely touching your shoulders) would be darling! It looks like your hair is fine (mine is as well) and I would just say if you want to cut a few inches to just make sure they put some layers in around the crown and on the side so you can have a little body and it won't hang limp to your shoulders and it'll have some swing to it. I say go for it--hair grows quick and it will be a good, fun change for you!

I think your hairstyle works, but I love suddenly chopping off all my hair, so I say go for it!
Thanks for your comments about the skirt I made. Having something new to wear is a nice consolation prize for not fitting into jeans anymore!

Thanks everyone. I did try the Taaz thing with my daughter. I didn't realise how old and ugly I looked compared to the samples!
I have booked an appointment for Aug 9th. Following your advice I will go for a slightly shorter look with a fringe (bangs) and ask about the layers.
I really do appreciate all your comments guys. Thanks.

I had basically the same haircut (like yours, longer face structure, fine hair) for years and last summer I went for the Katie Holmes haircut. No one believed I was going to do it but I did and I loved it! I did the bangs and all and it was a welcome change and made me look younger!

I've got straight fine hair too. If you don't want to go too drastic (I went fully short pixie last year), just get long layers to just below your chin. It will accentuate your jawline and be lighter around your face (make sure you get layers around your face). The layers will help your hair look fuller.

Thanks KT and Sheila.
I will get it cut a little shorter and I do like the Katie Holmes cut.
My hair is very fine but there is lots of it.
I have this image of myself at 70 with an edgy silver bob. That's what I am aiming for...gradually of course!

I think when I am seventy I will grow my hair long and wear it in a bit silver plait. I always wanted long hair but it doesn't suit me. I think when I am older I'll be a total recluse so it won't matter what I look like.

Until then, it is short with layers and constantly hay-stack like.
