198 and 197 days to go: A new challenge - Pimp My Dress

Thank you to my very generous mother in law who gave me vouchers that paid for this dress.
It is the most perfect dress for me.
The right shape, the right length and so versatile.
It was £25.00 from New Look and came with the belt.
As you can see I have worn it twice this weekend.
On Saturday with the refashioned cardigan and Sunday with the orange shirt.
I am also wearing the new black boots.
My challenge to you dear bloggers is using your familiarity with my wardrobe please make some suggestions on how you would like me to wear the dress.
I have lots of ideas but thought it would be fun if you had a go at styling me.

Please leave your suggestions in the comment box and I promise to try them and out and give full credit.

Footnote: I wondered whether I should use the word "Pimp" due to its obvious conatations despite its common use in "dressing up" cars, houses etc.
However, when I looked up the etymology I discovered the word has obscure origins but is linked to the French words "pimpant" which means smart or well-dressed and "pimper" - to dress smartly!

great! I have a similar dress (sleeves are shorter) that I wear the heck out of! How about without belt (not sure how that would look), with a roll neck or layering tee underneath, or a colorful scarf,or a jacket over it,or with leggings and colorful ballets..... that's all I can come up with for now ;)

I like it with the orange blouse, it adds a lovely bit of colour and style.

What about wearing it with some colour over it, such as a short jacket or cardi in a bright colour?

Fab dress! Try it with a different coloured belt and coloured tights. And perhaps a polo neck sweater underneath it.

I like how you have it just on its own with the purple tights and boots mind.

Ooh- love it with the plum-y tights. And I love the use of the word pimp, but sometimes I am kind of juvenile!

Nothing wrong with "pimp" in my books. :)

I'd like to see a waistcoat worn done up over it, belted, with some textured tights and a funky shoe.

Funny, I just bought (pre-Fashion Resolution) a dress very similar to this - I'm wearing it tomorrow!

I love it with colour underneath - wear it with a long sleeved knit underneath, or shirt, like the orange.

Great classic looking dress. How about wearing it with the grey wrap belt someone sent you? Or any of your pink - either under or over. I can picture it with one of those ballet type sweaters - the kind that wrap at the waist. Do you have one of those?

I like the dress with the colorful oxford underneath! I'm going to try that with one of my London Times dresses.

The dress is gorgeous and so versatile. I love it with the orange. I'd like to see it with that lovely turquise that suits you and of course all your pink tops and cardigans.
I would love to see it all dressed (pimped) up with your other black boots (the pointy ones) and with your red mary janes and your Scottish Widowns coat - stunning!

do you have a long cardigan? Maybe in red or purple? Long necklace, no belt...

Thanks for the great suggestions. I will work my way through them over the next few weeks.

You are right -- it really IS the perfect dress, lucky you :)

I also liked it very much w/the orange...that was my fave.

Perhaps combine it with some of your pink things...in the more vibrant hues? (in fact, I've seen pink & orange combined w/success...you could try that)

And since you have nice brown boots you could try it with some brown too...like a brown belt. I love the combo of black & brown.

But honestly, ANYTHING you put with that is going to look FAB!

Ah the basic black dress--so versatile. I like both ways you wore it, but I am particularly fond of the orange blouse underneath. The splash of color makes the outfit pop. I would recommend pairing the dress with bright colors (e.g. a big bright belt, or bright heels). Do you have any fabulous, chunky necklaces long enough to layer over the dress?

The dress is lovely! I think black and brown is such a chic combination -- why not add a leopard print accessory (like that stole you wore in the 'Anna Wintour' post) and then brown boots and belt? It would also look great with a fitted waistcoat.
